Favorite Place on Campus: My personal favorite place on campus has to be Deane Chapel near the music building. It is a very beautiful part of Westmont’s history and is an amazing place to sing or just chill. I enjoy the community that Deane brings for both students and faculty. Many different classes are held there, from history classes to Westmont’s College Choir course. The best part is the acoustics, being able to sit on the steps of Deane at any time of day (or night) and admire the beauty surrounding the chapel while someone practices their music.
Favorite Aspect of Westmont: When schools talk about giving students “opportunity,” I have never seen it ring more true than at Westmont. As a First Generation student, I was searching for a place that would give me the space to explore and see what I can find while still growing as a student and person. The opportunity to grow and find oneself with a supportive community. The opportunity to take courses outside of one’s major just because it seems interesting. The opportunity to be a part of a wide variety of clubs and organizations that make differences in our communities and/or just to have a little fun. The opportunity to create communities that will last a lifetime. This is my favorite aspect of Westmont because it changes lives for the better.
Favorite Westmont Memory: Out of the many to pick from, my favorite Westmont memory was my senior year tour with the Westmont College Choir and Orchestra. The two groups do not travel together very often and since I have very close friends in both ensembles, I could not have asked for a better way to end my four years at Westmont. Finishing my time with the people I worked very closely with for four years and also being able to pass on the mantle to the future of the ensembles made it a core memory for me.
Why do you work at Westmont: I aim to help support future generations in ways that I wish I had coming into college. I had no clue what financial aid was, if I was applying to the right schools, or even if I was choosing the right path to go on. I worked very hard but was worried that I wasn’t doing it right. I want to answer all the questions and be able to give students a more stable footing when it comes to making such a big decision about college. The biggest reason I work here is to really show students that all is possible with just a little support and community.
Hobbies: I am a HUGE singer, I love opera and classical music but am also a huge fan of R&B with my current favorite artist being Daniel Caesar. I also love to write music and lead musical groups. I enjoy building Legos and reading Greek and Roman mythology. When I am not doing any of those things I am in the gym or hitting the baseball cages, or I’m hanging out with friends and family.
